Student Chapter of American Meteorological Society

September 2nd, 2005 by Adam

The student chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) at Plymouth State University is developing a fund raising effort to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. Tentative plans have been made for all dollars raised to go to the American Red Cross.

According to chapter co-presidents Chris Winters and Chris Gloninger, donations will be solicited from members of the campus community and at donation sites being established in the downtown area. Donation slips are being created with the meteorological symbol for “hurricane” as the logo and attributed to “Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort.” When a donation is made, the individual’s name, or that of someone they wish to honor, will be written on the donation slip and posted in a public location on campus.

Plymouth students are also discussing opportunities with the national AMS chapter and will make the donation slip template available to other chapters.
