Students Accepted to Saltzburg Festival Perform May 13

Plymouth, N.H. — Plymouth State University students Jennifer Fijal and Daniel Brevik have been accepted to the select University of Miami Frost School of Music summer opera program in Salzburg, Austria, during the renowned Salzburg Festival.

Both students are music majors at PSU. Fijal, a mezzo soprano from Palmer, Mass. and Brevik, a bass-baritone from Holliston, Mass., will perform a benefit recital of classical music from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 at the Plymouth United Church of Christ, Congregational. Dr. Allan DiBiase will be the collaborative pianist.

The program will include operatic arias from Le Nozze di Figaro, The Tempest and Vanessa, as well as English and German art songs and Broadway favorites from Carousel and South Pacific.

While in Austria, Fijal and Brevik will participate in an intensive five-week program of vocal technique, coaching of repertoire and German language study. Costs are estimated at approximately $8,000. Any donation at the door is appreciated for the general admission concert.
