LACONIA, N.H. – SUNY Oswego scored four third-period goals, including three on the power play, and the Lakers skated to a 7-1 victory over Plymouth State University in non-conference women’s ice hockey action at Laconia Ice Arena.
The Lakers outshot the Panthers 48-5 for the game, but led only 3-1 entering the third period. Oswego put the game away with three goals in a three-minute span and improved to 4-4-1 overall, while PSU dropped to 1-5-0 overall and 0-4-0 in varsity games.
The two teams will play again Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Waterville Valley Ice Arena. Both squads are in their first season as a varsity sport.
Freshmen Kendra Lemire (Falher, Alb.), Tiffany Duquette (Peru, N.Y.) and Angie Friesen (Chilliwack, B.C.) scored two goals each for the Lakers, with Duquette and Friesen also collecting two assists each and Lemire one. Freshman Jenna Kirkwood (Chilliwack, B.C.) finished with three assists.
Sophomore Amanda Kreamer (Lynn, Mass.) scored the Panther goal, an unassisted score midway through the first period that made it 1-1 at the time. Sophomore goalie Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) had a busy night in the Panther goal and finished with 41 saves.
