PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior Katie Susat (Glastonbury, Conn.) scored a career-high 22 points Thursday evening to lead Plymouth State University to a 78-50 victory over Lasell College in non-conference women’s basketball action at Foley Gymnasium.
Susat also collected 10 rebounds to post her third career double-double, and her first in two years. She came off the bench to make 8-of-13 field goal attempts and 6-of-10 from the free throw line. Susat also finished with three assists and one steal in 21 minutes on the floor.
PSU rebounded from a disappointing loss on Tuesday evening at Keene State, improving to 7-10 on the season. Lasell had its two-game winning streak stopped and fell to 8-7.
Susat was one of three Panthers to score in double figures. Junior Ashley White (Merrimack, N.H.) scored 11 points, making 3-of-5 from three-point range, and freshman Kayla Morin (Pascoag, R.I.) chipped in with 10 points.
The Lasers were led by senior Mandi Rapisardi (Scarborough, Maine) and junior Courtney Casserly (Stoughton, Mass.), who scored 11 points apiece.
It was a tight game most of the first half, with the home team holding a one-point margin (21-20) with five minutes to go. The Panthers went on a 12-5 surge to end the half with a 33-25 advantage.
PSU opened the second half with a 12-4 run to push the lead up to 16 points (45-29). The Lasers got no closer the rest of the way, as the Panthers pulled away to a 20-point lead with eight minutes remaining.
Plymouth State returns to Little East Conference action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home contest against Rhode Island College. Lasell visits Mount Ida on Sunday for a North Atlantic Conference game (1:00 p.m.)
