Symphonic Band Presents Celtic Odyssey May 1

The Plymouth State University Symphonic Band and special musical guests will present “A Celtic Odyssey” Sunday, May 1 at 3 p.m. at the Silver Cultural Arts Center. World-class Irish musicians Jeff Baker (flute), Roger Burridge (fiddle), and Shannon Aaron (guitar) along with 12-year-old Irish dancing sensation Siobhan Butler, will join Dr. Gary Corcoran and the PSU ensemble in a program of music from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Man.

Selections will include “Irish Tune from County Derry” by Percy Grainger, “Mannin Veen” by Haydn Wood, “Loch Lomond” by Frank Ticheli, “Irish Rhapsody” by Clare Grundman, “Suogan” by Sam Baltzer, “Perthshire Majesty” by Samuel R. Hazo and other authentic Celtic folk tunes. Guest Conductor James Chesebrough will lead the ensemble in Percy Grainger’s “Ye Banks and Braes O’Bonnie Doon.”
