Frost Place Conference on Poetry and Teaching

The Frost Place, a museum and poetry center in Franconia, N.H.

Sharing sessions, lectures, seminars, poetry writing sessions, and readings the course will focus on how poets look at and teach poetry. Each day a different poet (Tim Seibles, Patricia Fargnoli, BJ Ward, and Dzvinia Orlowsky) will present a different look at the pedagogy of poetry along with detailed readings of their favorite poems and a reading from their own poems. Master Teacher Renée Olander will serve as mentor and guide through the week. Course director Baron Wormser will provide continuity and oversight.

Applications for the conference are read and reviewed as they are received. Space is limited to preserve the opportunity for participants to interact with the poets in an informal setting.

Tuition for the conference is $500 per person ($400 for New Hampshire teachers). Daily lunch and two dinners (optional but recommended, as alternatives are some distance away) are available for $80 per person.

Three graduate credits are available for conference participants through Plymouth State University’s College of Graduate Studies at an additional fee ($375 for three credits, plus a $25 registration fee). Certification of contact hours is also provided.
