The Transcontinental Duo, Elaine Greenfield and Jan Meyer Thompson, will present a recital of four-hand piano works at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at Plymouth State College’s Smith Recital Hall.
Greenfield has performed throughout North America as a soloist and ensemble player. She has recorded Debussy Preludes, Books 1 and 2, on an historic 1907 Blüthner of Leipzig piano, Debussy’s piano of choice. Greenfield is a recognized master teacher by the Music Teachers National Association and has been an artist faculty member of the Adamant Music School since 1973.
Jan Meyer Thompson, professor of piano at Arizona State University, has performed solo recitals and chamber music at both U.S. and international venues. She is pianist with The Kent Camerata, a five-member international vocal and instrumental ensemble, and recently toured the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Thompson and Greenfield met at the Adamant Music School in 1990. Since that time they have provided performances and subsequent live recordings of work from the vast repertoire of piano music for four hands.
The program will include selections from the works of George Bizet, J.S. Bach, Franz Schubert, Claude Debussy, Gabriel Faure, Maurice Ravel and Igor Stravinsky.
