PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two Plymouth State University men’s lacrosse players received top weekly honors from the Little East Conference Monday for their performances in two Panthers games last week.
Sophomore goalie Steve Valeri (Chelmsford, Mass.) was named LEC Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman attack Adam Krinsky (Concord, N.H.) was selected LEC Rookie of the Week. Both were instrumental in PSU picking up a pair of victories last week during a spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.
PSU’s starting goalie, Valeri posted an 8.50 goals against average, a .614 saves percentage, and a 2-0 record at the Panthers defeated Centenary, 16-12, and Scranton, 7-6 in overtime. He made 13 saves in the victory over Centenary, and stopped 14 shots in the triumph over Scranton.
A starting attackman, Krinsky registered eight points on five goals and three assists in the two victories. He led PSU with five goals and two assists in the win over Centenary, and added an assist in the Scranton triumph. Krinsky leads the Panthers in scoring through four games, and is among the LEC leaders this season in goals (8), assists (5) and points (13).
PSU, 2-2 overall, returns to action Tuesday, Mar. 29, against Wheaton College. The time and location of the contest has been changed due to the inclement weather, and will be played at 7:30 p.m. at Mansfield (Mass.) High School.
