PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two Plymouth State University women’s volleyball student-athletes were recognized by the Little East Conference Monday as the top offensive and defensive players in the LEC last week.
Junior Kelly Landry (Nashua, N.H.) was named LEC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, and classmate Becky Ciulla (Chelmsford, Mass.) was selected LEC Defensive Player of the Week. The two led the Panthers to three wins in five outings last week, including a 3-1 record in the Bridgewater State Tournament.
|An outside hitter, Landry averaged 3.82 kills and 1.06 aces per game while posting a .305 attack percentage as she was named to the Bridgewater State All-Tournament Team. She had double-figure kill numbers in all five matches this week, while also adding double-figure dig numbers in three of the five matches. It is the second time this season she has received the LEC’s top offensive weekly honor.|
|A middle hitter, Ciulla averaged 3.59 digs, 0.71 blocks and 3.14 kills per game in the Panthers’ five matches. She recorded double-figure kill numbers in all five matches while adding at least two blocks in all five matches. She contributed 16 service aces to the Panther cause.|
After an LEC match Wednesday at UMass Boston (6:00 p.m.), PSU, 12-5 overall, will play in its fourth tournament this season at the Bates Invitational this weekend in Lewiston, Maine.
