PLYMOUTH, N.Y. – Two Plymouth State University wrestlers are ranked in the top six in New England in their respective weight classes, according to the latest New England College Conference Wrestling Association individual rankings.
Senior Nate Kittredge (Vergennes, Vt.) is ranked fourth in the 184-pound weight class, and senior Dan Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) is ranked fourth in the 157-pound division. They are the co-captains and leaders of a Panther squad that is ranked 10th in New England as a team.
A three-time All-New England wrestler and the 2003 New England champion, Kittredge has registered a 7-3 record so far this season. He placed third at 184 pounds at the Oneonta State (N.Y.) Invitational to open the season, and also placed fourth last weekend at 184 at the RIT Tournament in Rochester, N.Y. Kittredge has a career record of 81-18.
The two-time defending New England champion at 149 pounds, Moskowitz has posted a 4-3 record to date this season at 157 pounds. He finished runner-up at 157 at the Oneonta State (N.Y.) Invitational to open the season before going 1-2 at the RIT Tournament last weekend in Rochester, N.Y. Moskowitz has a career mark of 74-33.
Three Panther newcomers are off to a good start this season and will be looking to break into the rankings. Freshman Ryan Schieding (Manchester, N.H./Memorial) has an 8-4 mark at 149 pounds and leads the team in victories; freshman Shaun Wilbert (Toms River, N.J.) is 7-3 in the heavyweight division, and junior Billy Wilbert (Toms River, N.J.) has posted a 6-4 mark, wrestling in both the 197 and 285-pound divisions.
PSU has its only home meet of the first semester this Thursday (Dec. 9) at Foley Gymnasium against Rhode Island College (7:00 p.m.), then wraps up competition for the first semester this Saturday in a quad meet at Roger Williams University with Southern Maine and Western New England.
