NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Two-time Little East Conference champion UMass Dartmouth captured 13 of the 16 events Saturday afternoon and defeated Plymouth State University, 164-125, in a women’s swimming and diving meet at the UMass Dartmouth Natatorium.
Junior Cait Anton (Woolwich, Maine) was a double winner for the Panthers. She touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke (with a time of 1:07.78), and she added a first place in the 200-yard individual medley (2:29.85). Sophomore Christina DiGiacomo (Meriden, Conn.) was the winner in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.03).
Senior Seanna McRae (E. Taunton, Mass.) was a triple winner for UMass Dartmouth, taking the 50-yard backstroke event (30.96) as well as the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.63). She also was part of the winning UMD 200-yard medley relay team.
Three other Corsairs captured two individual events apiece. Sophomore Katelyn Chase (Acushnet, Mass.) captured the 100-yard fly (1:06.45) and 500-yard freestyle (5:39.12); senior Jess Fallon (E. Walpole, Mass.) won the 100- and 1000- yard freestyle (1:02.56 and 12:09.54, respectively) and senior Kelly Kidd (Denville, N.J.) was the winner of both diving events, taking the one-meter with a score of 236.80 and the three-meter with a 306.70.
PSU, 3-6 overall, returns home to host Simmons College next Saturday in the final dual meet and the final home action of the season at the PSU Natatorium (1:00 p.m.) UMD, 9-4, is also back in the pool next Saturday, hosting Colby Sawyer and Saint Joseph (Conn.) (1:00 pm.)
