PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomore Sean Lander (Duxbury, Mass.) scored his second goal of the game 1:45 into sudden death overtime Saturday, giving the University of Massachusetts Boston an 11-10 victory over Plymouth State College in a Little East Conference men’s lacrosse game Saturday at PSC’s practice field.
The Beacons trailed 10-8 after three periods, but scored two unanswered goals in the fourth quarter before Lander’s game-winner, which was set up by junior Dan Gardner (Newton, Mass.). PSC had edged UMB 14-12 last season, ending the Beacons’ season and giving the Panthers the final play-off berth when both schools were in the Pilgrim League.
The game was very close the whole way. Plymouth State led 5-4 at the end of one quarter, but UMass Boston battled back to tie the score at 7-7 at halftime. PSC had a 3-1 scoring advantage in the third period, but the Beacons answered with goals at 5:50 and 10:12 of the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime.

Junior Nate Becklo (Gill, Mass.) and freshman Sing Phetvixay (Lowell, Mass.) contributed two goals and two assists apiece, and Lander finished with two goals and an assist. Junior Josh Stolp (Hingham, Mass.) and senior Bill Ward (Philadelphia, Pa.) also found the net for the Beacons.

Sallese (Beverly, Mass.) and sophomores Jason Biedrzycki (Amherst, NH) and Ken McGuire (Wayland, Mass.) all scored two goals apiece, and senior Eric Gilbert (South Portland, Maine) added his first goal of the season.
