PLYMOUTH, N.H.-The second annual New Hampshire Water Conference will be held on April 16 at the Grappone Center in Concord, N.H. PSU’s Center for the Environment is a sponsor of the event, with a theme of Science, Policy, and Management of Water in New Hampshire. The conference is open to anyone, and water resource professionals, researchers, academics, and elected officials will find the conference valuable. The first New Hampshire Water Conference, held last year, drew over 200 people, including researchers, legislators, water system operators, land use planners and government officials.

Conference Chairperson Kevin McGuire, assistant professor of hydrology at PSU’s Center for the Environment and research hydrologist for the US Forest Service, said the conference offers an unprecedented opportunity for the state’s environmental community.

“This conference helps us understand our water resources more thoroughly and provides a forum for professionals, regulators, scientists, and citizens to discuss solutions for better management and protection of our state’s water resources,” said McGuire.

• Water, land use, and policy

• Groundwater withdrawal issues and management

• Water supply: resource assessment, usage, and needs

• Flood forecasting, planning, and response

The conference is being organized by a variety of organizations including Granite State Rural Water Association, New Hampshire Geological Survey, New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, New Hampshire Department of Fish and Game, Plymouth State University’s Center for the Environment, S.W.
