November 6th, 2007 by Adam

There is only a short time left for online voters to participate in the Common Man Family of Restaurants’ NH Primary T-shirt Contest, featuring t-shirt designs by students from Plymouth State University and St. Anselm College. Votes will be accepted until Friday, November 9 at 5 p.m.

Students participating in the contest were encouraged to create designs highlighting the importance of the New Hampshire primary and were required to include the phrase “New Hampshire Presidential Primary 2008,” “The Common Man,” and the company’s logo in their designs.

Dr. Bonnie Bechard, a PSU professor of business, and her husband, Dr. Thomas Fitzpatrick, professor of business and economics at St. Anselm College, worked with PSU alumnus and Common Man CEO Jason Lyon to design the Common Man Apprentice program. They modeled it after the popular Donald Trump reality TV show, The Apprentice, to give students in their respective management and marketing courses the opportunity to develop teamwork skills and build real-life business experience.

A total of 27 designs were initially submitted for the contest, with the top eight having been chosen by judges in an earlier “primary.” A winner from each school is expected to be chosen in mid-November, and participants from the two schools will then collaborate on a final design that will be offered for sale at all Common Man restaurants, as well as the company’s website, thecman.com. A portion of the sales will benefit Kids Voting in NH, an organization that works to introduce civics education to students at an early age.
