PLYMOUTH, N.H. – For the second straight week, a sophomore outfielder on the Plymouth State College baseball team has received one of the top weekly honors
from the Little East Conference.

Sophomore Jay Zinis (Manchester, N.H./West) was named LEC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in six games last week. Classmate Matt
Salokangas (New Ipswich, N.H.) earned the same honor for PSC last week.

A 6’0”, 190-pound outfielder, Zinis batted .483 (14-for-29) with seven doubles, one home run, 14 RBI and seven runs scored in PSC’s six games last week. He had
five straight two-hit games, and he went 8-for-11 with six RBI Saturday in the Panthers’ doubleheader sweep of LEC rival UMass Boston. Zinis tied two single-game
school records in the nightcap against UMB, registering five hits and three doubles. He drew a walk in the eighth inning while attempting to break both marks.

Zinis helped PSC finish the regular season with a five-game winning streak and victories in eight of the last nine and 11 of the last 13. The Panthers head into this
week’s LEC Tournament at 15-19 overall and 5-9 in conference play.

The Panthers finished in a tie for fifth in the conference race with UMass Boston, but PSC won the tiebreaker over the Beacons with last weekend’s sweep. PSC
travels to fourth-seeded Keene State in Tuesday (May 8) for a first-round game (3 p.m.), while sixth-seeded UMB faces third-seeded UMass Dartmouth in Tuesday’s other
first-round game.

Regular season champion Southern Maine and runner-up Eastern Connecticut will be joined by Tuesday’s two winners for a double-elimination tournament this
Thursday-Saturday (May 10-12), hosted by USM. The LEC Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
