PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The honors continue to come in for the leader of the Plymouth State College men’s basketball team, and the Panthers continue to
pile up wins heading into the final month of the season.
Senior guard Adam DeChristopher (Brockton, MA) was named to this week’s Little East Conference and Eastern College Athletic Conference New
England Weekly Honor Rolls after guiding the Panthers to a pair of key wins last week. PSC knocked off arch-rival Keene State and Rhode Island College last
week to push its winning streak to six games and improve its overall record to 13-4.
A 6’1” point guard, DeChristopher averaged 19.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists in the 2-0 week. He shot 44.0 percent from the field, 41.7 percent
from three-point range and hit all 12 free throw attempts. DeChrist- opher put an exclamation point on the Keene State victory with a three-pointer in the final
minute to clinch the win.
For the season, DeChristopher is averaging 21.0 points , 6.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.6 steals in his 17 starts. He shoots 46.1 percent from the field,
79.8 percent from the line, and 37.9 percent from three-point range, connecting on 2.6 long-range bombers per game. The pre-season Division III All-America
(The Sporting News) has been the ECAC and LEC Player of the Week or Honor Roll selection five times this season and nine times in the last two years.
The Panthers, 7-2 in the Little East, handed Keene State its first conference loss last Wednesday, but still trail the Owls (8-1) by a game in the standings.
PSC shared the regular season title last season with UMass Dartmouth, both schools at 12-2 in conference play.
PSC is tested with three road games this week — non-conference affairs Tuesday (Feb. 2) at Castleton State (7:30 p.m.) and Thursday (Feb. 4) at
Bridgewater State (7:30 p.m.), followed by a tough Little East game Saturday (Feb. 6) at UMass Dartmouth (3:00 p.m.).
PANTHER NOTES: PSC shot 88.6 percent from the line as a team in two wins last week. The Panthers were 21 of 23 vs. Keene (.913) and 18 of 21
vs. RIC (.857)…..Sophomore Tony Martinez (Barnstead, NH) averaged 18 points and 6.0 rebounds in two PSC games last week, while shooting 54 percent
from the field. He is averaging 18 points and 8.0 rebounds over PSC’s last four games….Senior Eric McQueen (Lawrence, MA) is averaging 16.7 points over his
last six games. He has 946 career points, needing 54 more to become the 15th man in school history to score 1,000 points…. Senior Jamal Pettiford-Jones
(Portsmouth, NH) matched his season high with 14 rebounds vs. Keene State. After averaging 3.3 rebounds over his first three years, he leads the LEC this season
with 9.6 boards per game.
