PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior Lindsay Hryniewich (Acton, Mass.) and freshman Lindsey Malboeuf (Westford, Mass.) captured two individual events apiece Saturday afternoon to lead Westfield State College to a 159-135 victory over Plymouth State University in a non-conference women’s swimming and diving meet at the PSU Natatorium.
Hryniewich won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:12.00 and the 500-yard free in 5:47.16, while Malboeuf touched first in the 50- and 100-yard backstroke races (30.39 and 1:05.99, respectively). Malboeuf also swam the opening leg of WSC’s winning 200-yard freestyle relay.
Senior Danielle DeStefano (Centerville, Mass.) and freshman Caitlin Little (Scituate, Mass.) recorded two victories apiece for PSU. DeStefano won the one-meter and three-meter diving events to remain undefeated on the season, while Little took the 50 free in 26.37 seconds and the 50 fly in the 29.03 seconds.
Other winners for Westfield State were sophomore Cairsten Beanland (Westford, Mass.) in the 1,000 free (11:45.40); senior Rachel Webb (West Springfield, Mass.) in the 100 fly (1:06.69); junior Melissa Blain (Somers, Conn.) in the 100 free (59.79); and senior Katie Piquette (Seekonk, Mass.) in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.08).
Other Panther individual winners included sophomore Kaitlyn Milligan (Forestdale, Mass.) in the 50 breaststroke (36.12) and freshman Tracey Posnick (Sharon, Mass.) in the 200-yard individual medley (2:27.33).
PSU will host the annual alumni meet next Saturday at the PSU Natatorium (1:00 p.m.) The next official competition is Saturday, Jan. 6, at Bentley (2:00 p.m.)
