PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior Amanda Santos (Milford, Mass.) collected two goals and one assist Tuesday afternoon to lead Worcester State College past Plymouth State University, 5-0, in a non-conference women’s soccer game at Panther Field.
Santos scored the first goal for the Lancers midway though the first half, and assisted on a goal by classmate Amanda Beaudet (Auburn, Mass.) to make it a 2-0 game at the half. Santos added her second goal of the game early in the second half to extend the margin to 3-0, and the Panthers never threatened the rest of the way.
Junior Tiffany Rotatori (Auburn, Mass.) and senior Lauren Cush (Hudson, Mass.) also scored second-half goals for the Lancers, and senior Kelsey Irish (Hudson, Mass.) picked up two assists in the game.
Freshman Erin Doherty (Uxbridge, Mass.) needed to make only two saves to record the shutout in the Lancers goal. Senior Ashley Riberdy (Manchester, N.H./Memorial) had a busy afternoon with 12 saves, as WSC out-shot PSU, 23-3.
Plymouth State is home again on Saturday, hosting rival Keene State at 1:00 p.m. Worcester State returns home to host UMass Boston on Thursday under the lights (7:00 p.m.)
