Norton R. Bagley Scholarship Fund
This endowment funds a scholarship to a student majoring in education. Preference will be made to male students and additional criteria will be determined by the President in consultation with the Education Department.
Maureen Shine Bateman Memorial Scholarship Fund
This endowment honors Maureen Shine Bateman and, in her memory, funds a scholarship to be given to one deserving Childhood Studies major who is seeking certification in Elementary Education. The award recipient is to be chosen by the Education Department Scholarship Committee on the basis of the following criteria: full-time status; 2.0 or above overall GPA; sophomore or above class standing; displays attributes of enthusiasm, warmth, dedication to teaching, and willingness to learn and try new teaching techniques; celebrates all children; can serve as a role model for children; and is well spoken and reads widely.
Class of 1946 Endowment Fund
This endowment funds scholarships for worthy undergraduate students majoring in Education. These awards are based on academic achievement and financial need and are granted to upperclass students who have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
Class of 1951 Scholarship Endowment
This endowment fund is established for the purpose of supporting a Junior or Senior student in good academic standing, majoring in education, and in need of financial aid.
Class of 1952 Endowment Fund
The purpose of this endowed fund is to support a scholarship for a worthy sophomore, junior, or senior student who is enrolled in the teacher education curriculum. The recipient will have a GPA of 3.0 or better, and has shown positive characteristics of high integrity, leadership, and service to the university community.
Class of 1957 Scholarship Fund
This endowment funds scholarships for a worthy undergraduate student majoring in Education.
Class of 1962 Endowment
This endowment fund is established to support scholarships for students majoring in education who have completed at least three semesters at Plymouth State University, have maintained a GPA of at least 3.0, are active in leadership roles on campus, and are involved in community service.
Marie Connelly Scholarship Fund
This endowment honors Marie Connelly and, in her memory, funds scholarships for worthy nontraditional undergraduate students majoring in Education as determined by the Marie Connelly Scholarship Fund Committee.
Emma Paulsen Knapp ’17 Scholarship Fund
This endowment honors the memory of Emma Paulsen Knapp ’17 and, in her memory, provides scholarships to undergraduate students majoring in Education. Criteria: minimum GPA of 3.5 for most recently completed semester and a cumulative GPA of no less than a 3.00 based on a minimum of three semesters performance. Secondary preference shall be given to a student who is a NH resident. A tertiary preference shall be given to students on the basis of need.
Jessie Barnes Metcalf Memorial Fund
This endowment honors the memory of Jessie Barnes Metcalf ’35 and, in her memory, funds scholarships for worthy freshmen from NH who are majoring in Elementary Education. Selection is based on financial need and potential for academic achievement at Plymouth State University.
Michelle Morse Memorial Scholarship
This endowment honors the memory of Michelle Morse, and, in her memory, funds scholarships for deserving students who are majoring in childhood studies. These students have overcome some type of adversity or obstacle and have found childhood studies to be their calling. The recipients will have a high GPA, a love for students and a tremendous work ethic. This fund is a way for all of us to celebrate Michelle’s many contributions and accomplishments, and to extend her legacy.
Kelly A Nester Memorial Scholarship
The Kelly Nester Scholarship honors the memory of Kelly A. Nester, and in her memory, provides a scholarship to an early childhood studies major who displays attributes of enthusiasm, warmth, and dedication to teaching and celebrates all children.
Barbara Boyce Oakes Scholarship Fund
This endowment funds at least one scholarship for female students majoring in Elementary Education. The scholarship is based on merit, with consideration given to financial need. It is further restricted to NH residents.
Doris Dean Palmer ’30 Endowed Scholarship Fund
This endowment honors the memory of Doris Dean Palmer and to support a scholarship for a full time student needing help to become a primary grade teacher.
Gary Richey Scholarship Fund
This endowment honors the memory of Gary K. Richey, a professor in the Education Department from 1995-2003 and funds a scholarship for an undergraduate senior in the Education Department’s Special Education option. Selection is based on academic achievement.
Blanche Colby Stacy Fund
This endowment funds scholarships for worthy students obtaining an education as a teacher.
Emma Yeaton Wheeler Scholarship Fund
This endowment provides funds for one scholarship for a NH resident who is either:
- earning a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Childhood Studies and who hopes to teach at the elementary school level,
- earning a Master of Education (Elementary Education) degree.
Dorothy E. Whiting Scholarship Fund
This endowment honors the memory of Dorothy E. Whiting and, in her memory, provides scholarships. Awards are made to undergraduate student(s) majoring in the field of Education. The selection is based on merit and financial need; when applicable, preference is given to a student who is a resident of Dover, NH.
Eugene ’58 and Joan Doyon ’56 Savage Education Award
The Eugene and Joan Savage Education Award will be presented annually to a New Hampshire student who has completed at least their first year at Plymouth State University and who aspires to pursue a career in education.
The scholar will be chosen by a Selection Committee of the Education Department and will be awarded on the basis financial need, academic accomplishment demonstrated by a GPA of 3.0 or better, and promise for future success. Recipients of the Savage Scholarship will be eligible to re-apply each year.
