Welcome Back!

How exciting it is to start a new academic year! There is so much happening between participating in Panther Days, moving in of students and starting classes. During all the hustle and bustle, remember that the Client Services and Academic Technology team is here to support your work and help you through the academic year.  If you have any questions on Moodle, Mahara, Office 365, Lynda, WordPress, CoursEval, Zoom, 3D Printing or other technologies, please stop by during our drop-in sessions; send an email tohelpdesk@plymouth.edu to schedule an appointment with one of our specialists; or sign up for a workshop. Seats are limited for these workshops to 12 participants – so that all can get their questions answered. You must EMAIL user-workshops@plymouth.edu to reserve your seat.

 

Weekly WordPress Workouts in Lamson 031

Fridays  10:00 a.m. – Noon starting September 8th
Join your colleagues in a focused WordPress work session with help in the room to assist you in updating your department website. This session is for anyone who wants to improve or make edits to their websites; including the NEW campus.plymouth.edu. Staff will be on hand to advise and support your work.

Tuesdays 10:00 – 11:00 a.m

Come see Bret K. if you need assistance with updating your department website. Please bring your laptops. If you do not have a laptop, you can borrow one from the help desk.

Katie will be available during those times to answer your Moodle questions, help with integrating with Lynda.com or Zoom with Moodle, and to troubleshoot common issues.

 

3D Printing: An Introduction

Wednesday, September 13th 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in Lamson 117
Erika will provide an introductory session into the world of 3D printing. Topics covered will be different printing methodologies, as well as their benefits, limitations, materials, and applications.
In addition, you will have an opportunity to see the 3 models of 3D printers we currently own in action.

Preparing Photo and Large Format Prints

Wednesday, September 20th 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in Lamson 117
In this workshop we’ll go over the basics of preparing your photos or posters for photo or large format printing. We’ll go over how to edit and resize files and submit print ready files for the Print Depot. We’ll be able to answer any basic questions in regards to printing and Photoshop, Acrobat, Powerpoint, InDesign or Illustrator.

Hyde 120 & 220 Technology Introduction in Hyde 120

Every Friday  Starting Sept. 8th 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Join Brett R. for a walk through of the updates to the in-room technology in lecture halls Hyde 120 and 220 which were recently installed during the summer ’17 renovation.  A hands on demo will follow with the opportunity to use the new projector control systems, drawing tablet, microphones and other components.  This will be a great opportunity to become familiar with the systems and gain an understanding of the options available for class-work integration.
