The University Police Department is deeply committed to ensuring the quality of life for all university students, guests, faculty, staff, and community members.
To achieve this commitment, we strongly believe in teaching by example. All UPD staff members support this mission by showing compassion, fairness, respect, and accountability. The involvement of the Campus Community is crucial to the success our mission.
The UPD motto is attributed to Ernest L. Silver, president of Plymouth Normal School, for more than 35 years.
“Out of School Life, Into Life’s School.”
The Campus Community has graduated from grade school. Now they are pursuing higher means of education towards their life’s dreams and goals.
It’s our responsibility as an integral part of society to continue teaching what is right and wrong and the consequences for such actions. It’s also our responsibility to provide support and guidance to those in need.
We’re the bridging gap between childhood and adulthood. We are the school of life, encouragement, and growth.
