Jessica has over twelve years of experience working in the non-profit sector. She first found her passion for community service while volunteering for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and The Ronald McDonald House as a student at Plymouth State University (PSU). She graduated from PSU in 2003 with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing, and again in 2004 with her MBA. Jessica has served as the Executive Director of the Pemi Youth Center (PYC) since 2005. The Center is a local non-profit organization that provides after school programming aimed to support the development of local youth. Under Jessica’s leadership, hundreds of PSU students have engaged and served our community through mentorship. She believes that personal development is supported through service, and works hard to build a strong sense of community at PYC. Jessica reminds youth participants engaging at the Center that anything is possible and challenges them to dream beyond their circumstances.
In 2006, Jessica co-founded The Faith, Hope And Love Foundation (FHL) along with fellow PSU alumna, Laura Brusseau . The Foundation addresses the overwhelming needs of young people suffering from poverty, hunger, or homelessness throughout the State by awarding thousands of dollars to youth and families each year. Jessica feels privileged to have the opportunity to significantly impact the lives of youth in the State of NH.
Jessica has been a Teaching Lecturer for PSU’s College of Business Administration (CoBA) since 2006. She truly enjoys teaching her students academic and life lessons, while inspiring them to discover their own passions. She engages students in service learning opportunities and understands how their experiences directly support learning outcomes and career development.
Jessica became a member of the President’s Commission on the Status of Women at PSU in 2011 and cares deeply about women’s issues and fostering equality on campus. In January of 2013, she was the advisor for PSU’s International Service Trip to Jamaica and felt privileged to lead the group of PSU students through such a meaningful service experience. In August of 2013, Jessica was honored to receive a proclamation from Governor Maggie Hassan at a recent Governor’s Council meeting held at PSU.
Most recently, Jessica joined the Office of Research and Engagement in August of 2013 through a unique and collaborative partnership with Plymouth State University, Pemi Youth Center, and Granite United Way. Serving as a Service Learning Coordinator, Jessica’s work aims to support faculty members in integrating service learning into academic curriculum, and supporting students in their work in area non-profit organizations. Jessica is committed to making a difference in the Plymouth community and to supporting our students in reaching their personal goals.
