Important Dates

What are the exact dates of Winterim?

University Apartment residents who have submitted the Winterim housing application and appropriate payment may stay in their apartment from December 19, 2014 through January 25, 2015. You must visit the Centre Lodge office during the fall semester exam week to check out for fall and check-in for Winterim. Langdon Woods residents may keep their keys but must still check out before leaving at the end of the semester. You may not return to the building until 3pm on Thursday, January 1, 2015. Please see the building staff for specific instructions. Residents of all other areas must turn in their keys before leaving for Winterim and check in at their residence hall for Winterim between 3pm & 6pm on Thursday, January 1, 2015. Check in after January 1 will be at the Office of Residential Life, Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.

I want to return to campus before January 1, 2015. What should I do?

Apartment residents with Winterim housing applications on file should visit the Centre Lodge at the end of finals week to make the proper arrangements. Residence hall students should speak to their Residence Director to discuss their individual circumstances. Typically students are not allowed to stay in their residence hall rooms between fall and Winterim semesters.

What if I didn’t make arrangements to stay on campus before I left at the end of fall semester?

You must wait until January 2 to return to campus. Bring your completed Winterim housing application and payment to the Student Account Services office. Once you have paid in full, the staff in that office will give you a release form. Bring this form to the Office of Residential Life Monday – Friday between 8:30am and 4:00pm The staff there will work with you to get your room keys.

Where do I return my application?

You must return your application to the Student Account Services office with your payment by December 12, 2014 to avoid being assessed the $25.00 administrative fee.

Winterim Dining

Is a meal plan offered during Winterim?

No meal plan is offered during Winterim. Students may purchase Winterim Board FlexCash at a discounted rate ($200 of FlexCash for $189 or $319 of FlexCash for $299). This Winteirm Board FlexCash must be used during Winterim (January 2 – January 22, 2015). Any unused Winterim Board FlexCash will not carry forward to the spring semester.

I live off campus but want to purchase Winterim Board FlexCash. What should I do?

You need to complete a Winterim Board FlexCash application. You may print the form from this website or pick up a copy at Residential Life or the Student Account Services office (Speare Building 108). Return the completed form with your payment to the Student Account Services office. The cost for $200 of Winterim Board FlexCash is $150.

What are the dining options during Winterim?

Beginning January 2, 2015, the Union Grille will be open Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (closed Monday, January 19). FlexCash may also be used at our FlexCash partners downtown (Biederman’s Deli, Burrito Me, Café Monte Alto, Chase Street Market, Mandarin Taste and Subway)

Do I need to purchase Winterim Board FlexCash?

No student is required to purchase Winterim Board FlexCash.

Billing Questions

How much does it cost to live on campus during Winterim?

On-campus housing for Winterim will cost $129 if paid by December 12, 2014. Applications received after December 12 will be subject to a $25 administrative fee.

Do I need to pay for Winterim right away or will I be billed?

You must pay for Winterim housing and Winterim Board FlexCash at the time of application. Bills are considered paid if they are paid in full by an out-of-pocket payment (cash, check or credit card) or if your balance will be covered by approved (certified) financial aid. Please note that a pre-approved loan is not sufficient for considering a bill paid on the due date. If you are depending on loans to pay your bill, you must file your application(s) early and communicate often with the financial aid office.

Can I pay for Winterim with student loans?

Res Hall Questions

I live in a traditional residence hall. What do I need to do to live in my room during Winterim?

Complete a Winterim housing application and return it to the Student Account Services office with your full payment between October 27 and December 12, 2014. Any application received after December 12 will be assessed a $25.00 administrative fee. If you have completed this process you will need to schedule a check out time with your CA and turn in your keys at that time. You will check back in for Winterim at your residence hall between 3pm and 6pm on January 1, 2015. If you are checking in after January 1, you will pick up your keys at the Office of Residential Life (located on the lower level of Mary Lyon Hall). The office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm. Note the office is closed on Monday, January 19, 2015.

General Questions

I am an athlete who needs to be here with my team during Winterim. What do I need to do?

Your coach will provide you with a special Winterim application to complete. If you live in a residence hall you may be asked to keep your keys depending on your date of return. Please see your Residence Director for specific details. Please note that even if you keep your keys you need to schedule a check out time with your CA. Apartment residents who complete an athlete Winterim application will keep their keys after visiting the Centre Lodge during final exam week to check out for fall and check in for Winterim.

I am working during the holiday break. Can I stay in my on-campus housing?

Can I live on campus if I’m not taking a Winterim class?

You do not necessarily need to be registered for a Winterim class to stay in housing for the term. However, Winterim housing is ONLY available to students who were living on campus during the fall 2014 semester. In addition, if you are not taking a Winterim class you must be signed up to live on campus for the spring 2015 semester.

I lived on-campus for Winterim. Do I need to check in with the Res Life staff for spring 2015?

Yes. All on-campus students are required to check in with the appropriate Residential Life staff at the beginning of each semester. Failure to check in may result in your being declared a no-show. As a result you may be dropped from your classes and withdrawn from Plymouth State University.

Where can I park during Winterim?

Students with a valid 2014-2015 parking permit (residential or restricted) may park in any residential parking lot on campus. Lot maintenance is in effect. Be aware of when maintenance is being done in the lot where you are parked. Cars not moved during lot maintenance will be subject to towing.
