Biography
Rob came to PSU in 2000 as an Adjunct Faculty. Rob is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Graduate Counselor Education Program, focusing in the area of diagnosis and treatment of substance use disorders. He joined the Counseling Center part-time in the Fall 2009, and he is now a full-time clinician.
Counseling Approach and Areas of Specialization
His main treatment approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing/Motivational Enhancement Therapy. He has worked with a variety of populations over the course of his career including those with acquired brain injuries, developmental disabilities, fetal alcohol syndrome/affect, autism spectrum, as well as those with substance dependence and substance abuse disorders. Rob enjoys the challenge and rewards of assisting students to increase their self-awareness, develop coping skills and maneuver the many transitions they face.
Rob has experience working with diverse populations including people of color and people of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Interests
Rob’s interests include spending time with family and friends, reading, playing the euphonium, and relaxing in Maine.
