Welcome Back for AY2021-22!
Greetings from your Student Life Team! We are incredibly excited to welcome you back to campus for a new academic year. As we look forward to all the fun we have planned for the fall semester, we also want to take pause and recognize the disconnection and heartbreak we collectively experienced during the pandemic. The loss of human life is staggering and COVID-19 continues to shed light on the social injustices and disparities in our communities and throughout the world. The pandemic is not over, but as a team, we are dedicated to offering a wide variety of co-curricular experiences for you to engage in, while we come together to heal, learn, and grow.
Student Life encompasses four areas: Student Engagement, New Student Experience & Orientation, Community Impact, and Campus Recreation. Our team of dedicated staff members includes Jess Dutille, Drew Guay, Kadie Dickson, Kyle Hastbacka, Casey Krafton, Amber Mateer, Randy Szabadics, Austin Anderson, Melina Baker, and Zach Eastman. You can expect that as a team we will give you our best, with the wholehearted intention of supporting you, our students, on your own journeys of discovery. We hope you will take advantage of the fun and meaningful programs, projects, and events we’ll be facilitating this semester. You can expect a weekly calendar of events posted in the Hartman Union Building (HUB) and on our social media channels. Most importantly, you can expect that we will do everything we can to cultivate a sense of belonging among all students. This year our Student Life motto is #HereUBelong!
We expect that you will work with us in fostering a caring and connected community, while we keep our collective health and wellbeing a top priority. We are asking you to consider what it means to be a compassionate human being, an active citizen, and a good neighbor. This means masking up when necessary to protect those around you. It means being considerate of this beautiful town and the community members who call it home. And it means getting involved in causes and student orgs that speak to your heart. You have unlimited power to create positive change! If you haven’t fully encountered your personal power and sense of purpose, we are excited to support you in exploring it. As a member of our campus, you have the responsibility to apply your values, wisdom, and ethics as you make your unique contribution to the Plymouth State Community.
It is important to us that every student at Plymouth State feels seen, valued, and loved. We thank you for being a partner in co-creating this vision, and we look forward to seeing you in the HUB soon!
