Dance Project

Recurring event see all

March 25, 2023 @ 7:00 pm 8:00 pm

This original, short performance uses dance and theatre to share universal stories of women.  Inspired by the perspectives of the performers as well as the complex lives of mythological heroines, dancers move and speak about ideas of transition, choice, and the feeling of being split in two. During the devising process collaborators found references to hand work, (knitting, weaving, crocheting) as another way women make and mark meaning. As part of the performance, community members, university students, faculty and alumni as well as professional artists have shared pieces of their work to be displayed as a set piece that frames the dancers, literally and metaphorically wrapping them in our collective stories.  Dance Project is a collaboration between student performers with special guest artist, Carey Cahoon of the award-winning theatre KAPOW and PSU Professor, Amanda Whitworth. The performance is followed by a Q & A with the performers and collaborators.
