June 4, 2020 - Required Daily Health Screening

Good afternoon,

The state of New Hampshire issued COVID-19 guidance for institutions and businesses deemed essential and remained open, like Plymouth State University. This guidance requires employers to screen employees prior to reporting to work for COVID-19 symptoms. Effective immediately, and until further notice, the following requirements are in place for employees who have been determined to be essential personnel, and for any employees who comes to any of our campuses or any work-related site outside of the home. This includes going into the office to pick up mail or get supplies.

  • If you are sick or not feeling well stay home and notify your supervisor. Possible symptoms of COVID-19 include fever; respiratory symptoms such as runny nose, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath; flu-like symptoms such as muscle aches, chills and severe fatigue; and changes in a person’s sense of taste or smell.
  • No more than 1.5 hours before arriving to work, employees are required to take their temperature and login to an online portal (eha.plymouth.edu) to review a brief health self-assessment and confirm the answer to the five questions is no. This needs to take place every day you are working outside of the home. More information can be found in the attached FAQ document.
  • Increase hygiene practices, including wash hands and use hand sanitizer frequently; avoid touching the face, eyes or mouth; practice good respiratory etiquette. This includes coughing and sneezing into a tissue or your elbow rather than into your hands.
  • While at work and in public, employees should wear a cloth face covering to help protect against the spread of the virus. The university has masks available, but employees may wear their own masks should they choose to do so.     •  Employee training will be communicated by the beginning of next week to help clarify the use of cloth face coverings while in the workplace.

  • Practice physical distancing of six feet.

To be clear, this requirement is only for employees who must go to campus or any work-related site outside of the home. Faculty will teach summer courses online and staff who are working remotely should continue to do so until further notice.
