On January 26th, Kobe Bryant, one of the most influential athletes of all time, was killed in a helicopter crash along with eight others. Among the passengers of the helicopter was his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna. The nine people aboard the Sikorsky S-76B helicopter were headed to the Mamba Sports Academy for a youth basketball event when it suddenly started spinning out of control and crashed near Calabasas, California.
Kobe Bryant played for the Los Angeles Lakers for 20 seasons. While doing so, he won five NBA Championships, was an 18-time NBA All-star, 15-time All-NBA Team member, 12-time member of the All-Defensive Team, was a two-time NBA Finals MVP winner, and was the 2008 NBA Most Valuable Player. Bryant also led the NBA in scoring for two seasons. He ranks fourth on the league’s all-time regular-season scoring, and on the all-time postseason scoring list. Due to all of these accolades, he is regarded as one of the best basketball players of all time.
