Nick’s Bar: The Hottest Spot in Town

A new bar opened up in downtown Plymouth on Sept. 5: Nick’s Bar and Food, located above Hong Kong Garden on Main Street. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting this bar a few times, and I can say it’s the hottest spot in town for college students. 

The drinks are amazing, and I personally recommend the shark attack scorpion bowl; a huge pitcher that you can share with your friends. As an avid vodka cranberry drinker, I can also say their vodka crans are superb. 

They also have a great atmosphere with a dance floor, lights, fun music, and a Wii to play bowling or “Just Dance.” Along with this, they give opportunities on Instagram for patrons to submit photos of themselves at Nick’s to be framed and hung on the wall. They also allow patrons to write with a sharpie on the bathroom doors, adding to the college atmosphere and bringing together the Plymouth community.

Nick’s can also pride themselves on their frequent $2 or $3 deals for mixed drinks, shots, and beer, keeping it affordable for broke college kids. This includes PlymVegas Fridays, when they have a DJ, and other fun themed nights. This Halloween, they held costume contests all weekend. 

The service is also quite nice, and the staff are efficient and polite. On opening night, I had unfortunately misplaced my wallet, and the staff was super helpful in finding it. It had actually turned out that I accidentally dropped it in the bathroom trashcan. 

It’s a super safe bar. The bouncers are incredibly vigilant, and free cup covers are offered upon request, preventing roofie incidents. 

All in all, it’s a super fun place with affordable and yummy drinks, a fabulous atmosphere for college students, with an amazing staff. I can say for sure it is my go to bar, and should be yours too. As they say at Nick’s: “If you’re not here, you’re blowing it.”
