Life’s a Beach at Spring Fling 2026

Spring Fling is one of the most beloved events here at PSU. For years, students have been coming out to Mary Lyon Lawn late in April to celebrate the end of the semester – and more importantly, to get trashed together. This year brought change to the tradition. The location changed from Mary Lyon Lawn to AllWell North, all the way across the bridge to Holderness.
Walking down from the main campus felt weird. It was much quieter than years before. That could’ve been due to when I arrived, or just the fact that it was further away. I missed hearing all of the cheers from my dorm. However, within my first few steps after arriving, my discomfort went away. Members of the Plymouth Activities Council for Students all had the biggest smiles and bubbled with excitement.
Before hitting the field, the event was already well-organized. Walking through AllWell’s garage felt like going to a fancy private concert, and stepping out onto the field was even better. The lighting from the stage hit everything else perfectly. The picnic tables, beer garden, pizza station, and tabling student clubs were all perfectly placed. It truly felt like a summer’s night on a New England beach.
Students slowly flooded the field with dazzling outfits and bright smiles. It was fun watching peers recognize and run up to each other. The first part of the night was dedicated to pictures. After pizza and drinks, many went to the stage to take their aesthetic photos. Different groups took turns asking strangers to take a group photo, forming small new connections with each other.
The dress-up aspect is one of the most exciting things about Spring Fling. Getting your special outfit ready and matching the theme is always fun. Some friends try to coordinate with each other, while others have their own vibe. It’s a great way to get in the spirit of the event. Since this year’s theme was “Beach Party,” the outfits were perfect for getting ready for the warm weather. The April air was still a little chilly, but people persevered in their summer attire. And with the large, sweaty crowd, the weather was near perfect for the night.
As more and more students came, the energy grew. Most gathered around the stage, with the rest near the beer garden. As soon as a voice spoke into the microphone, everybody who wasn’t already there sprinted to the stage. The music hadn’t even started when people started cheering. This was the start of what people wanted the most: the music. The student bands in particular hold a special place in Plymouth’s heart. Seeing familiar faces absolutely
crushing it on stage is amazing. Every song was a banger.
Overall, Spring Fling is for making memories with friends. Countless people said that they loved seeing our school as one big community. It’s a special time where we all get together and celebrate. “Everyone is having fun and bonding together, and [it] makes me feel like a Panther,” Sarah Mires said. We dance, scream and sing to our favorite songs. The energy is always high, and people are always moving. Students talk to people they normally wouldn’t have, all while creating stronger bonds with their friends.
