Coordinated Campus Wide Prevention
The Office of Student Advocacy and Well-being is committed to helping to create a well-prepared and knowledgeable student body that makes intentional choices regarding health and well-being. In order to make this happen, OSAW ensures that campus prevention efforts are coordinated, collaborative, and fully integrated into all that we do. We utilize multiple pathways to do prevention work including PEMI Ambassadors, Community Partnerships, Student Leadership training, and Student Orientation and Preparation.
Our well-trained and committed team of PEMI Ambassadors is on the job! We promote healthy lifestyle practices and well-being through educational, awareness raising, and empowerment events and activities. Whether we are tabling in the HUB, hosting an event at an athletic event, or being active bystanders at campus gatherings, we aim to be effective leaders, good role models, and accessible mentors.
One of the most effective ways to shift campus culture is through coordinated and effective training of our student leaders. In collaboration with Student Life, Residential Life, and Athletics, OSAW will be helping to make sure that our student leaders are well prepared for the challenging task of leading the student community and has the prerequisite skills to do so effectively! With that goal in mind, we are collectively aiming to get as many of our student leaders as possible trained as Certified Peer Educators
In collaboration with the Offices of Student Life and Residential Life, we ensure that student evidence based prevention work is peppered into all online orientation, June Orientation, Panther Days, and general onboarding programming.
It takes a village! PSU has deep connections with so many strong and effective community partners. These partnerships are essential for helping our community thrive and be the best version of itself! Below is but a sampling of those community partners:
A cohesive and coordinated approach among our various offices at PSU is essential to effectively prepare and support our students for the challenges that college and life will throw at them. OSAW works closely with a number of trusted campus partners. We all rely on each other to meet students where they are at and best support them, regardless of the challenge that they encounter.
