Confidence in yourself is a difficult quality to assume, especially within an art form that is so subjective.
Coming to Plymouth State University, I felt like a small fish in a big pond with not very much to offer. I didn’t view myself as an impressive vocalist or actor, and though I loved dance, I never thought I was the best in the room. But now, as I enter my final year at PSU, my mindset has completely changed.
Thanks to the undying support of PSU faculty, my involvement with Residential Life and Kappa Delta Phi NAS, and my own sheer will and determination, my confidence and resilience have blossomed.
Plymouth State has given me the space and resources to push myself in ways I didn’t think possible.
As a Music Theatre Performance major, I have pushed myself to grow as a performer in many different aspects, including utilizing courses in sociology to better understand human nature and society.
Serving as both a Community Advisor and Desk Attendant with the Office of Residential Life, I’ve forged important connections with first-year students, providing guidance and leadership to help forge positive experiences.
And as a proud sister and President of Kappa Delta Phi NAS, I have been very fortunate to lead my organization in raising money and awareness for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Over the past three years, I’ve built on the characteristics of kindness, devotion, and pride, which I show to my sisterhood and community through my strong work ethic and service.
My confidence, involvement, and success at Plymouth State would not have been possible without the transformative impact of donor-funded scholarships. The generosity of donors has made it possible for me to evolve as a performer and student, contribute to my community, and build my confidence so that I know what I bring to the table is valuable. Scholarships have given me room to grow as a student, a community partner, and a performer without the burden of having to worry about how I could afford this life-changing experience.
My time on campus has supplied me with countless things that will help me greatly upon graduation, including time management, interpersonal skills, an adaptive nature, leadership skills, and confidence. I’m proud that I’ve been selected as a scholarship recipient because of the skills and growth that I have shown over the last three years.
I hope to create meaningful and impressive art throughout my life and make an impact within my community, wherever my career may take me. Thanks to the support and vision of generous donors like you, I feel closer than ever to achieving great things.
