Donna Driscoll
Dr. Driscoll began her nursing career after graduating from the Community College System of New Hampshire Berlin campus as an associate degree-nurse in 1996; this two-year program provided a strong foundation as she continued on to obtain a baccalaureate degree in nursing from Saint Joseph’s College of Nursing in Maine. Dr. Driscoll then continued her studies at Saint Joseph’s College and completed a Masters of Science in Nursing Education (MSN) degree in 2010. She received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice Degree (DNP) from Chamberlain College of Nursing, Chicago, in 2016 with research that included the new graduate RN and simulation training to assist with clinical reasoning and the response to patient clinical emergencies. Dr. Driscoll feels strongly that new nurses need the experience and training of what to look for to detect patient deterioration and put interventions in place for positive patient outcomes.
Dr. Driscoll began teaching for the Community College System of New Hampshire in 2008 and began her career at Plymouth State University for the University System of New Hampshire in 2015. In 2021, Dr. Driscoll became the Director of the PSU Nursing program. She has taught a multitude of nursing courses and enjoys working with students in class and the simulation center.
Dr. Driscoll’s professional nursing experience includes, medical surgical nursing, critical care, leadership, and her true passion of emergency nursing. Certifications include: Certified Emergency Nursing, (CEN), Trauma Nurse Certification (TNCC), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). She has been involved with the State Board of Nursing on the simulation education advisory committee and has worked with building an electronic health record for an acute care hospital. In 2017 she implemented the electronic health record in the PSU simulation center and continues her work with simulation to promote student learning and positive patient outcomes.
