Biography
A dedicated and empathetic practicum trainee at the Counseling Center, Hilary is committed to supporting and empowering students as they navigate both academic and personal challenges. She grew up in Canada and relocated to New England in 2017. While living in Canada, Hilary was a horseback riding instructor. This position gave her the chance to work with individuals of all ages and share her passion for horses. The move to New England, however, provided the opportunity to return to school and Hilary graduated with her BA in psychology from Northern Vermont University in May of 2021. In September of 2021, she began studying at Rivier University, where she is currently pursuing a Psy.D.
Counseling Approach and Areas of Specialization
Hilary values the uniqueness of everyone’s journey, utilizing a client-based approach and tailoring counseling sessions to meet the specific needs and goals of each student. Working together to help students achieve their goals, she employs a strengths-based approach, recognizing and building upon the unique strengths and assets each student possesses. She also draws from Cognitive Behavioral theory to assist students in developing effective coping strategies.
Interests
Hilary enjoys spending time with her horse and her dog, listening to music, hiking, paddleboarding, canoeing, baking, traveling, and being around friends and family.
