BIOGRAPHY
Jen came to PSU as a part-time counselor in September 2011, and is now a full-time clinician at the Counseling Center. She is originally from New York State and moved to New Hampshire in 1999. She has worked as a mental health counseling for over 10 years and during her graduate studies, became interested in the practice of yoga. Jen became a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher and has worked teaching classes, assisting in yoga teacher trainings and continues to obtain education in the therapeutic approaches of yoga in mental health.
COUNSELING APPROACH AND AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION
Jen’s approach to counseling derives from emphasizing a client centered approach and Relational Cultural Therapy. While she specializes in mindfulness, meditation and yoga techniques she also utilizes traditional therapeutic strategies such as cognitive behavior restructuring and motivational interviewing.
Jen has experience working with diverse populations including people of color and people of the LGBTQIA+ community.
INTERESTS
Jen enjoys hiking, yoga, comic books, art, spending time in nature and walking her dog.
