Biography

Jennifer grew up in North Carolina and moved to northern NH to be a wilderness counselor in 1990. She worked with that organization for over eight years as a group counselor, trip leader, ropes course instructor, canoeing instructor and a teacher. She taught high school English in the northeast corner of Vermont and then spent nine and half years as a LCMHC in community mental health working with clients of all ages/diagnoses. She joined our staff in August 2016 as an adjunct counselor and became a fulltime staff member in August 2018.

Counseling Approach and Areas of Specialization

Jennifer believes that relationships are key and she sees all people in therapy as a work in progress, understanding that change and transitions are often difficult but necessary and positive. She has worked with teenagers and young adults since 1990 and enjoys this age group the most as they are often under-supported/under-served. She believes therapy should be client-centered and works with her clients to find their desired focus and goals. She also believes in helping her clients to build a foundation through a solid support system, life balance, daily purpose, a healthy routine, and future dreams. “We all need therapy at some time in our lives. It doesn’t have to continue forever. We work through our issues and move on with our lives.”

Jennifer has experience working with diverse populations including people of color and people of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Jennifer enjoys British and American Literature, writing, photography, travel, visiting family, long walks, biking, motorcycling, cross country skiing, and canoeing.
