Employment

Plymouth State is committed to giving our students, faculty, and staff an innovative, authentic environment that promotes excellence. It is this commitment that led to Plymouth State twice being named to the Chronicle of Higher Education’s “Great Colleges to Work For” list for our teaching environment and tenure clarity and process.

Just walk down the hill and you will find Plymouth, NH, a small town whose mountains, woods, lakes, indoor and outdoor recreation, and performance venues earned it National Geographic Adventure magazine’s designation of one of the 50 next great adventure towns in the US. Bookstores, coffee shops, restaurants and boutiques line Main Street. Here, you’re just two hours from Boston and 90 minutes from the coast, surrounded by epic mountains and lakes that offer outstanding recreation opportunities.

Plymouth State is committed to being a creative community that inspires students, faculty, staff, and alumni to actively transform themselves and the world.

Work-Life Balance & Benefits

At Plymouth State, we place great value on our faculty and staff achieving a healthy work/life balance. To support this culture of positive health, we provide leadership, opportunities, and programs for all our employees and their families.

Our Employee Assistance Program gives you access to information and resources to enhance your life and personal wellbeing. This site is a comprehensive resource for you and your family with information on personal growth, emotional wellness, parenting, managing change, self assessments, online training modules, and financial calculators. Call 1-800-424-1749 and use Access Code: USNH.

Healthy PSU is a program across campus that offers information and resources for faculty and staff to take part in physical activity programs, learn about healthy eating, stress management, and health care cost management. In addition, you can take steps toward a healthier lifestyle with the Wellness Connection program. And Local Foods Plymouth makes it easy to purchase food & other products grown, raised, and made in the Plymouth, NH, area.

Our Center for Young Children and Families is a great place for children aged 13 months to 5 years. Open from September to June, with teachers who have Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degrees in Early Childhood, the center is licensed by the State of NH, and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The University also has convenient Lactation Stations around campus.

Plymouth State offers Flexible Work Options (FWO) to enable staff and management to serve customers well, meet University goals, and balance personal and professional responsibilities. PSU supports flexible work options when they meet the needs of both the department and the individual.

Team up with your co-workers, neighbors, family members, or friends and start ridesharing! And take advantage of opportunities to continue your education and volunteer around campus.

Plymouth State University offers a comprehensive program of benefits to our faculty and staff that includes medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, vacation benefits, and more. As part of the University System of New Hampshire, PSU also offers generous tuition benefits for employees and dependents. Learn more

Other benefits of working at PSU include the institution’s commitments to employee health and wellness, environmental sustainability, and community service–the university’s motto is Ut prosim: “That I may serve.”

These values come together to create activities such as weekly employee walks combined with trail cleanups; curling, broomball and hockey leagues at PSU’s ice arena, which was built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards; or group volunteer activities with Habitat for Humanity.
