What is the B.I.T.?
PSU's Behavior Intervention Team (BIT) is a multidisciplinary group that works together to address student behaviors that may threaten campus safety, well-being, or academic success. The BIT proactively identifies students at risk and provides timely support to prevent crises, ensuring a healthy and supportive campus environment. PSU's BIT plays a crucial role in preventing crises, supporting student success, and maintaining a safe and healthy campus environment. By working collaboratively across departments, the BIT ensures that students receive the comprehensive help they need.
The Goals of the B.I.T.
- Identify at-risk students: PSU's BIT identifies students who display concerning behaviors, such as mental health issues, academic struggles, or disruptive actions that could harm themselves or others.
- Early intervention: The team steps in early to assess the situation, offering campus and community resources, or other interventions before the issue escalates.
- Promote campus safety and success: PSU's BIT works to foster a safe, inclusive environment where students can succeed both academically and personally, addressing any barriers to their well-being.
