PEMI Ambassador Program

Mission:

The mission of the PEMI (Peer Educator/Mentor Initiative) Ambassador Program is to help make the PSU student body the healthiest, most empowered, and most resilient version of itself by promoting healthy lifestyle practices, providing effective mentorship and advocacy, and creating a warm and welcoming space for students to get support or quiet their minds. We strive to exemplify excellence in leadership, education, support and advocacy both on campus and in the community.

Vision:

We envision PSU students that are:

  • Making intentional decisions regarding their health and well-being.
  • Caring for the health and well-being of ALL students on campus
  • Well connected to and supported by each other

What do we do?

PEMI Ambassadors are a team of Certified Peer Educators trained through an evidence-based and nationally recognized certification program. Our primary goal is to make the PSU community awesome by spreading joy, educating our peers, and being there for each other.

Peer Education:

We promote healthy lifestyle practices and well-being through educational, awareness raising, and empowerment events and activities. Whether we are tabling in the HUB, hosting an event at an athletic event, or being active bystanders at campus gatherings, we aim to be effective leaders, good role models, and accessible mentors.

Peer Mentorship:

Transitioning into college and making connections can be really difficult. We aim to make this process easier by serving as peer mentors for students who are struggling to find their way and make connections. Mentors will be matched by shared interests, desired outcomes, and/or shared identity. Mentors also serve as sources of support and guidance for students who are going through a rough patch. Peer Advocacy and Support:

PEMI Ambassadors staff the Office of Student Advocacy and Well-being from 11am-5pm Monday-Friday. If you are ever having a rough day and it would be helpful to have someone to talk to, to help you find and navigate resources, or simply make space for you to quiet your mind and relax your body, we are here to support you.
