Eric Hoffman, Ph.D.
Director, School of Science and Technology

The School of Science and Technology brings together programs that help students understand the natural world and the technologies that shape everyday life. Our students study living systems, Earth systems, and the tools used to observe, analyze, and respond to a changing world.

Here, you will explore science at many scales. You might study cells under a microscope, build and test computer systems and robotics, track extreme weather, or examine ecosystems that range from local biomes to global climate systems. Across our programs, students learn how human decisions interact with these systems and why that matters.

Students who thrive in this school tend to be curious about how things work. They like asking questions, solving problems, and learning through hands-on experience. Many enjoy being outdoors in the field, working in labs, or digging into data to understand patterns and outcomes.

Our faculty are deeply committed to undergraduate teaching. You will work closely with professors in classrooms, labs, and field settings, and take part in projects that connect what you are learning to real scientific and technical questions in the world around you.

Explore our programs and the work students and faculty do together.
